Yule, J. B. (James Blaine), 1884-
Variant namesJames Yule was born in 1884. He attended Montana State University (today known as the University of Montana) in Missoula, Mont., and graduated with a degree in engineering. Yule began working for the Forest Service in 1911 as a forest ranger and transferred to the division of engineering in 1917. He pioneered in the development of aerial photography and photogrammetry, both used to speed up forest mapping. Yule retired in 1947 as the Chief of Surveys and Maps in the engineering division of Forest Service Region One. Yule died on 4 June 1957.

James Blaine Yule was born on February 21, 1894. He attended Montana State University (today known as The University of Montana) in Missoula, Montana, and graduated with a degree in engineering. Yule began working for the Forest Service in 1911 as a forest ranger and transferred to the division of engineering in 1917. He pioneered in the development of aerial photography and photogrammetry, both used to speed up forest mapping. Yule retired on September 1, 1947 as the Chief of Surveys and Maps in the engineering division of Forest Service Region One.
Yule and his wife Margaret had two daughters, Jamie and Valerie. Yule died on June 4th, 1957.
