Pennsylvania State University. Student & Family Services

Hide Profile

Dr. Betty Moore was the first director of Family Services and reported to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. It facilitated the relationship between family members and their children at Penn State. In the late 1980s it became a division of the new Office of Campus Life, and Sharon Mortensen changed its name in the 1990s to Student & Family Services. The office provides families with vital information about resources for student safety, such as Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), via direct correspondence and events like the First-year, Testing, Consulting, and Advising Program (FTCAP). Student and Family Services also established official procedure for student emergencies, such as sustained illness or death.
