Henry M. Hanzen (1879-1967) was born in Genesee, Idaho, and educated at the University of Idaho. He was a newspaper reporter in Idaho and Oregon, and had a financial and editorial interest in several Oregon newspapers. In 1930 he was the campaign manager for Julius Meier (an independent candidate for Governor of Oregon), and was appointed budget director under Governor Meier. He was campaign manager for Rufus Holman in the 1944 senatorial primary campaign.
