Shutes, Milton H. (Milton Henry), 1883-

Historian, physician. Received M.D. degree from Northwestern University (1908). Practiced medicine in Piedmont, Calif. (1920-1950). On staff at University of California Student Health Service (1913-1945). Published several monographs on Abraham Lincoln, including: "Lincoln and California" (1943); and, "Lincoln and the doctors" (1957).

Biography

A collection of pamphlets, letters, and published documents on President Lincoln's career, assassination, and legacy. It was collected and compiled by Dr. Milton H. Shutes (1883-1964), an amateur historian, physician and member of the University of California Student Health Service staff (1913-1945). Dr. Shutes published Lincoln and California (1943) and Lincoln and the doctors (1957).
