Daniel's service to the Howard University School of Law lasted for more than thirty-five years. In 1923, Daniel took a part-time position in the law library, which eventually grew into a full-time career.

Daniel served during a colorful period in the school's history. In 1929 Charles Houston began to change the school from a small evening program into a fully-accredited, day law school.
