David Lion Drabkin, University professor. Drabkin received his A.B. from City College of New York, 1919 and his M.D. from Cornell University, 1924. His career at the University of Pennsylvania began as Instructor of Physiological Chemistry and of Biochemistry in the School of Medicine, 1926. He served as Assistant Professor, 1930-1942; Associate Professor, 1942-1946; Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry, Graduate School of Medicine, 1946-1968; and as Professor Emeritus at the School of Dental Medicine, 1968-. Drabkin was well known for his work in spectrophotometry of hemoglobin, research in enzymes and metabolism, and for his knowledge of photography.
