The Chinese Art Association of America, originally the Chinese Art Club of California, was organized on April 29, 1930 by six Chinese art students attending the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco. As a cultural club, its object was to discuss art, promote art interests among the Chinese people in San Francisco, acquire a better knowledge of Chinese art, and to establish relations with artists in China.
