The Blaisdell family lived in New Hampshire until the mid 19th Century when they moved to New Jersey.

Blaisdell family (found in box 3, folder 1): John C. Blaisdell was the son of Elijah and Mary (Fogg) Blaisdell and the grandson of Hon. Daniel Blaisdell. Daniel Blaisdell was a native and a resident of Canaan. He was a member of the governor’s council five years starting in 1803, and represented New Hampshire in Congress two years starting in 1809. Elijah was a prominent lawyer. He resided and died in Lebanon. John C. Blaisdell was born in Pittsfield on 13 May 1805. He married on 15 January 1829, to Ruth S., daughter of Dr. Sethus B. and Ruth (Wells) Forbes, who was born on 6 October 1808. They came to Bristol, NH in 1848. There Mrs. Blaisdell opened the first millinery store in town. Mr. Blaisdell was a farmer and served two terms as commissioner of Grafton County. They removed to Laconia in 1862, where he was internal revenue collector from July 1863 till September 1865. In 1866 they removed to Vineland, NJ, where he died 1 March 1893, after 64 years of wedded life. He was a Republican in politics, and was a Mason for 65 years. Mrs. Blaisdell was a great sufferer for more than 30 years as the result of a railroad accident. She died at the home of her son, in Camden, NJ, May 14, 1896.

Arlond H. Blaisdell was born 13 February 1836, and married Mary Pattee, of Bristol. He opened the first machine shop in town on Water Street in 1859. He removed to Vineland, NJ in 1872, where he had the largest machine shop in NJ.

E. Galond Blaisdell was born on 4 May 1847 and married 24 May 1875 to Julie E., daughter of Elisha C. and Ellen P. Fellows, who was born 21 January 1847. He graduated from Dartmouth college in 1868. He became the editor of Vineland Weekly for several years and went to Camden, NJ, in 1879. There he entered the employment of the West Jersey & Seashore Railroad and Pennsylvania Railroad.
