Emil Jensen was a gold prospector in the Yukon, where he befriended Jack London. London's "Malemute Kid" character was somewhat inspired by Jensen.

Born Christian Emil Jensen in Denmark either in 1859 or 1860, Emil Jensen emigrated to San Francisco sometime in the 1870's. Emil Jensen also spent time in the Klondike where he met Jack London. London used Jensen as a model for his character Malemute Kid in, "The Son of the Wolf." Jensen was married to Annie Caroline Olsen in 1906 and then married her sister Ida A. Olsen in 1910. Emil Jensen died in 1949.
