The Gloucester Manufacturing Company was officially incorporated by the New Jersey legislature on March 19, 1845. The company manufactured cotton goods and related machinery, and eventually owned offices in Gloucester, New Jersey; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and New York, New York. At least two members of the Chew family, including Samuel Chew and David S. B. Chew, served on its Board of Directors. The Gloucester Manufacturing Company was dissolved in April 1909.
