Stanley "Stan" E. McDowell (b. 1926) was born in Madison, Wisconsin and grew up in Detroit and Pontiac, (Michigan). He volunteered for the Navy during WWII, and served on the U.S.S. General C.C. Ballou (Ship: AP-157). Upon returning to the United States, McDowell studied electrical engineering at the University of Michigan and later worked for Evinrude and Allis-Chalmers while living in Wisconsin.
