Marion Dodd corresponded with the Antarctic explorer Apsley Cherry-Garrard and the British Museum (Natural History department) with regard to specimens of emperor penguins which had been collected from the Cape Crozier rookery during the British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913 (leader Robert Falcon Scott). These specimens were deposited at the British Museum by Cherry-Garrard when he returned from the Antarctic.
