Hans S. Larsen (1858-1920) was born in April 1858 in Yderby, Odden, Sjolland, Denmark. His father's name was Lars Larsen and his mother's name was Christena Hanson. In 1865 his parents were baptized by Mormon Elders and 1866 they immigrated to the United States. During the voyage over sea, both the mother and youngest brother died and were buried at sea. When they got to New York, they were all sick and were taken to hostpitals to be treated. During this time the father died as well as the sister. At this time Hans was only eight years old. A couple of years later he traveled west to Salt Lake City, Utah, and arrived in September 1868. A woman named Mrs. Porcher took him in and he lived with her for three years. In 1873 he moved to Brigham City and would remain there until his death on 2 January 1920. Hans married twice, his first wife died after childbirth, and he had ten children between the two women. He was also involved in local politics before his death.
