Gigli's "Del Collegio petroniano...," is similar to Plato's "Republic," and Thomas More's "Utopia". In it Gigli tells of a college endowed by Cardinal Riccardo Petroni in which young children, were raised and educated in Latin. It was such a skillfully delineated satire, that few contemporary readers saw through the hoax.
