The Richardson family resided in Brunswick County, Virginia. George R. Richardson, son of Amos and Mary, enrolled for active service in the Confederate Army at Trotter's Store, 3 June 1861, and was mustered into service in Company I, 20th Regiment of Virginia Infantry ("Brunswick Blues"), at Richmond, 5 June 1861. He died of illness in a Richmond hospital in September, 1861. (Listed as George R. Richerson in the National Archives, Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from Virginia. Reel 633.).
