J. C. Ingersoll was a naturalist who collected birds and mammals throughout the United States including North Carolina and Florida in 1895. Ingersoll also assisted Samuel N. Rhoads on a mammal collecting trip in Pennsylvania and throughout the southern Alleghenies from September 24 to December 20, 1896. Collecting was done at locations including, Tuscarora, Juniata County; Huntingdon County; Blair County; Cambria County; and Summit Mills, Somerset County.
