Doctor, missionary; born Richard Edgar Scheel on September 3, 1923; graduated from Wheaton College, 1945; earned medical degree from University of Illinois, 1947; married Marjory Ingrid Hess, 1950; had five children; served with Sudan Interior Mission in its hospital in Kallafo, Ethiopia, 1951-1968; served at the hospital, leprosarium and eye clinic in Dessie, 1969-1970; was responsible for health of SIM personnel, 1970-1971; joined medical staff of Central DuPage Hospital, 1972- ; returned several times to Ethiopia for extended stays for medical and evangelistic work.
