Lindley, Robert
Variant namesDescendant of a survivor of an 1817 Indian massacre in Wabash County, Illinois where Mr. Starks, Mrs. Cannon and her young daughter were taken prisoner. The families had recently come to Illinois from Kentucky. While captive they went with the Indians to McLean County where they lived until an agreement was made to return all those captured to St. Louis. The story was apparently related to the writer by Mr. Starks.
