Grambau, Edward J.

Edward J. Grambau was born on Sept. 6, 1893 in Metz (Mich.). He attended Rogers City High School, Ferris Institutue, later Ferris State University, and MSU. Edward taught vocational agriculture for 33 years at CMU. During World War II, he was the chairman of the Isabella County Victory Garden project. Edward retired from CMU in 1954 with the rank of Assoc. Prof. Emeritus. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Lake City Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge. With his wife Jesse, Edward had two sons, Raymond and Roland. Edward died on Oct. 22, 1961 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac (Mich.). He was survived by his wife, two sons, five grandsons, three brothers, and two sisters. Jessie Irene McGee was born in Missaukee County (Mich.) on Jan. 5, 1895. She graduated from Lake City High School, and attended Missaukee County Normal School and CMU. Jessie taught in the Mount Pleasant (Mich.) public school system and at CMU. She married Edward J. Grambau, with whom she had two sons. During World War II, Jessie was the chair of the Isabella County Fat Salvage project and an air raid warden. She was active in the Central Michigan Community Hospital Auxiliary and DAR. Jessie died on July 12, 1974 in Mount Pleasant, and was survived by her two sons, five grandchildren, a brother, and a sister. (Information from the collection.).
