Brewer, Catherine E.

Hide Profile

One of the earliest women's colleges "like a men's college" established was the Georgia Female College, now Weslyean College, at Macon, Georgia, which graduated a class of young ladies in July of 1840, a little over a year after the institute was founded. The Georgia Female College gave to each of the graduates a diploma signifying her admission to the "first degree." The diploma of Catherine E. Brewer was probably among those awarded in that class.
