Research for an unpublished book on Illinois county courthouses collected by Jay Monaghan, Director of the Illinois State Historical Library from 1945-1951 and State Historian, and John Burhorn, Junior State Historian. In 1951 William Peck, a Knox College student, also collected county information on the architects and architectural style of the county courthouses for a paper. Robert Marsh resumed work on this project in 1967 and added a small amount of information to the original research, but the book was never completed.
