Robert W. Pomeroy began his career at the Inter-American Development Bank in 1965 as a financial analyst. He had previously served as executive assistant to the manager of the Rockefeller's International Basic Economy Corporation in Brazil, and later as an analyst vetting the creation of a Wall Street venture capitalist operation. He majored in history at Stanford University and was a graduate student in history at the American University of Beirut.
