McCord Family.
The McCord family originated in South Carolina, then moved to Gwinnett County, Georgia. In the 1880s, Z.D. McCord (1853-1923) moved to Goodwater, Alabama, where he established a cotton gin, a saw mill, and a buggy and farm implement manufacturing company. These were collectively known as Z.D. McCord & Company. He also built the family home that still stands. The McCords are related by marriage to the Eppes family of Goodwater, the collection's donors.
