Frank M. Whiting was professor and director of the University of Minnesota Theatre from 1944-1970. He served as director and captain of the Centennial Showboat, University of Minnesota (1958-1974) and was one of the members of the steering committee for establishing the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. After leaving Minnesota, Dr. Whiting was an adjunct professor at the University of Utah. Dr. Whiting was president of the American Educational Theatre Association and served on the Arts Committee for Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson. Frank Whiting died on November 27, 1996.
