Architect.

Cincinnatus Shryock, from Lexington, Ky., worked in a later period than his older and more famous brother, Gideon Shryock. Although he had intended to become a doctor, he lacked one course when he dropped out of Transylvania University Medical school in Lexington and began studying architecture with his brother. During the Civil War, Shryock operated a ferry on the Kentucky river and once aided his friend, General John Hunt Morgan, in transporting his troops across the river. Soon after the war, Shryock moved back into the city of Lexington, contracting to design private homes and public buildings.
