Covington, Perry Decatur, 1842-1916.

Perry Decatur Covington, a native of Ohio, enlisted in Company B, 88th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1862, remaining with this regiment for one year. He was promoted to Captain, Company F, 118th United States Colored Infantry in 1864. He commanded Company F until they were mustered out in 1866. Covington married Sarah McClain in 1866. In 1869 he graduated from the Ohio Medical College in Cincinnati, Ohio, and practiced in Round Head, Ohio, for four years before moving to Bellefontaine, Ohio, in 1873, where he remained until his death.
