Born in Rochester, New York, Ramón Santiago (1943-2001) began painting while attending Mt. San Antonio College in California in 1961. He returned to Rochester to study art at RIT from 1963 to 1965. After serving in the United States Marine Corps in the mid-1960s, he began his professional art career. Influenced by Chagall, Picasso, Dali and others, Santiago's work is a figurative style with dramatic fantasy. His works are held by numerous museums, including Carnegie Mellon Collection in Pittsburgh, Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, and the Museum of Modern Art in Palermo, Italy.
