Sheep Ranch Mine (Calaveras County, Calif.)
Sheep Ranch Mine one of major gold producers in southern Mother Lode (1918-1939). Deposits on Ranch were not discovered until 1866. Principal mine, of which George Hearst was one of partners (1874-1893), reportedly produced $4 million in gold during years of Hearst's involvement. Mine worked intermittently in early 20th century, producing about $3 million dollars by 1942.
