Ofstie, R. A. (Ralph Andrew), 1897-1956
Variant namesRalph Andrew Ofstie (b. Nov. 16, 1897-d. Nov. 18, 1956), was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He received his commission as Ensign from Annapolis in 1918, and served as a White House naval aide from 1924 to 1927. He reached the rank of rear admiral in July 1943, and went on to command the U.S. Sixth Fleet from December 1954 to November 1956.
