Jabez W. West (1858-1925) was a Mormon farmer and butcher in eastern Idaho. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to England between 1897 and 1898.

J. W. West had a wife and six children, but he left them to serve a two year mission in Great Britain for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He left on April 25, 1898, and was still on his mission on November 17, 1898 when this journal ends. Ruby Kate Smith wrote a book called: A man to remember; the story of Jabez William West Smith, in 1956.
