Causeries du Lundi (New Orleans, La.)
Les Causeries du Lundi was founded in 1911 by a small group of New Orleans women, renewed in the 1950s, and later affiliated with the Alliance française, continuing into the twenty-first century. The purpose of this organization is to encourage and support interest in the French language, culture and literature. Its name is derived from the work by C.A. Sainte-Beuve, translated as "Monday Chats". Noted Southern author, Grace King, was among the club's presidents.
