Rutgers family.
Residents of Belleville (then part of Bloomfield Township), Essex County, New Jersey: Anthony Rutgers (d. 1835 or 1836) and his wife Sarah ("Sally") Alexander (Johnson) Rutgers. Anthony Rutgers and his family lived at Poughkeepsie, New York, for a brief period prior to his death, after which his widow and children returned to live in Belleville. She married second, in 1839, the Rev. Robert Birch (1808-1842) and lived at New Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey.
