Eleanor McKee was born in 1924 in Shannon City, Iowa. She received her B.A. (1944) in Spanish at Drake University, and her M.L.S. (1952) at the George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee. She taught public school in Orient, Iowa (1946-1947), then at the Southern Christian Institute in Mississippi (1947-1949). She was the high school ibrarian in Spirit Lake, Iowa (1955-1957). At Iowa State College (University) she was a Library Instructor (1957-1968), an Assistant Professor (1968-1975), and an Associate Professor (1975-1990). In 1990 she retired from the university.
