The National Society, United Daughters of 1812 was founded nationally in 1892 as a patriotic organization for women who had an ancestor who rendered civil, military, or naval service between 1785 and 1815. The Philip Schoff chapter was founded in Marion County, Ind. in 1911, and limited to 50 members.
