Marion L. Dunn was born in Danforth, Me., ca. 1895. After graduating from Danforth High School, she attended Maine General Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a registered nurse. During her career she worked at the Boston Children Hospital and as pediatrics supervisor at Maine Medical Center. She pursued her interests in genealogy and history as a member of the Maine Historical Society, Mayflower Society, and D.A.R. Dunn was also the author of several genealogies, including one on the Harding family.

In 1628 a trading post was established by the Pilgrims of New Plymouth Colony on the banks of the Kennebec River, near what would later become Old Fort Western near Augusta, Me. Recently plans have been approved by the City of Augusta to build a replica of the trading post.
