De Salis family.
Leopold Fane de Salis arrived in Australia in 1840 and later acquired the properties of Darbalara (near Gundagai), Junee Station and Cuppacumbalong (near Tharwa). He is credited with pioneering work in the use of dams, thus enabling settlement to move away from the main streams.
