In 1862 Norcock was placed as a midshipman on the Pheobe 35 on a Mediterranean cruise and in 1867 on the sail and steam corvette Blanche on her maiden voyage, visiting Cape Town, Australia, N.Z. etc. Norcock was promoted to lieutenant in 1872 Jan. and subsequently served in the Thalia and Iron-Duke, visiting Japan, China, Vladivostok etc.

In 1862 Norcock was placed on the books of the Phoebe 35 as a midshipman on a Mediterranean cruise, and in 1867 on the sail and steam corvette Blanche on her maiden voyage, visiting Cape Town, Australia, New Zealand, etc. On Norcock's voyage the Blanche paid off at Sydney in Oct. 1871. He was promoted lieutenant in Jan. 1872 and subsequently served in the Thalia and Iron-Duke, visiting Japan, China, Vladivostok, etc.
