International Union of Elevator Constructors
Variant namesThe National Union of Elevator Constructors was formed in 1901, and was renamed to its current form in 1903. The union represents those who work, repair, and renovate elevators, moving walkways, and escalators in the United States and Canada. The American Federation of Labor granted the international union its charter in June 1903. The International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 21 of Dallas, Texas, held its first meeting on November 8, 1907. The IUEC has had many jurisdictional disputes with other industrial unions, but has stayed together for over 100 years.
