Frank Marcellus Schultz attended Iowa State College (University) in the fall of 1915 to spring 1917. After serving in the military during World War I, he returned to Iowa State in fall of 1919 but left after one semester. While at Iowa State he majored in forestry and was a member of Theta Xi fraternity and the Student Army Training Corp (SATC). Jeannette Jones Schultz, born Lamb, attended Ossining School for Girls (Ossining, New York) during the fall of 1915. While at Ossining she took part in hockey, tennis, and missionary meetings and played as a forward on the junior basketball team. Jeannette was accepted into the University of Wisconsin and began classes there in the spring of 1916.
