Major Samuel White (b. 1907, New York, N.Y.-d. April 4, 1994), U.S. Air Force officer, received his medical degree in 1931 and was commissioned in the Medical Corps, later completing the aviation medicine course and beginning assignment as flight surgeon. During World War II he was director, Department of Aviation Medicine, U.S. Air Force School of Aviation Medicine, and he established the Aeromedical Department of the Army Air Force School of Applied Tactics. He served as command surgeon, Global Air Transport Command, and was the first command surgeon of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe. He also served as command surgeon, Tactical Air Command from 1951 to 1956, after which he was assigned as director, Medical Staffing and Education Office of the Surgeon General, Air Force HQ. In 1965 General White became command surgeon, Pacific Air forces HQ. He retired in 1969.
