William Thomas Hudnell (b. 1908, Aurora, N.C.-d. July 4, 1986), U.S. Air Force officer, enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1931 and earned pilot's wings and a commission in 1933. After various command and logistic staff assignments, he was appointed assistant chief of staff for materiel of the 1st Fighter Command in 1942. During World War II in the Southwest Pacific, he served at Headquarters Far East Air Force and as chief of staff, 5th Air Force, and flew combat missions. In the 1950s, General Hudnell was vice commander, Far-East Logistic Force, in Japan, and commander, Air Materiel Force, Pacific Area, in Hawaii. In 1960 he assumed command of the San Antonio Air Materiel Area in Texas, and he retired in 1965.
