Orphan Brigade Kinfolk Association.

Hide Profile

The First Kentucky Brigade, Confederate States of America (CSA), composed of several infantry and artillery units, left the state in 1861. Unable to return home until after the war, veterans referred to their unit as the Orphan Brigade. The Orphan Brigade Kinfolk Association was founded in 1987 to preserve the memory of the Orphan Brigade by gathering information, including photographs and biographical information on the original soldiers. The mission later expanded to collect information about other Confederate Kentuckians.
