Witwer, Samuel W. (Samuel Weiler), 1908-
Variant namesChicago, Ill. lawyer with the firm of Witwer, Muran and Burlage and president of the 1970 Illinois Constitutional Convention. Had worked for years for an new constitution and prominent in the passing of the 1950 "Gateway Amendment". Ran for U.S. Senate, on the Republican ticket, unsuccessfully in 1960. Involved in Chicago Urban League, Citizens for a Greater Chicago and the Chicago Union League Club.
