Aldrich-Blake, Louisa Brandreth, 1865-1925
Variant namesEntered the London Medical School for Women 1887, MB 1892, BS and gold medal for surgery 1893, MD 1894, MS (first woman to attain) 1895. Practised as a surgeon in London, and from 1910-1925 was surgeon to the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital. She was also surgeon at the Royal Free Hospital. 1914-1925 Dean, London Medical School for Women. Served with Women's Unit under the Anglo-French Red Cross in France during the First World War. Created Dame of the British Empire, 1925.
