James Henley Caligan was a Presbyterian minister in North Carolina and Florida. A native of NC, he studied at the University of South Carolina and Davidson College where he graduated in 1927. Caligan attended Union Theological Seminary. He was appointed to pastorate of Waldensian Presbyterian Church (Valdese, N.C.) ca. 1930. He resigned 1938 to travel in Europe. In 1934, he married Emily Leger of NYC. Caligan served as pastor to St. John's Presbyterian Church (Miami, Fla.) in the 1940s. He also served as executive secretary for the Greater Miami Council of Churches and executive director of the Protestant Service Bureau in the 1950s.
