Russell family.
Richard Russell (1611-1676) came to Charlestown, Mass., from Hereford, England, about 1640. He was a merchant who served as a town officer as well as treasurer of the province.
Daniel Russell (1642-1679), son of Richard, graduated from Harvard in 1669. He was a minister, preaching first at New London, Conn., before settling in Charlestown, Mass., in 1676. He also edited an almanac in 1671.
