Campaign to Organize Graduate Students.

Hide Profile

The Campaign to Organize Graduate Students (COGS) was organized in April, 1993. The goal of the campaign was to form a union in order to improve graduate teaching assistants' work environment and the benefits they were receiving from the University of Iowa, and to increase student input when it came to issues such as greivance procedures and class size. Affiliation with several international unions was considered prior to the selection of the Service Employees International Union, Local 150 out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
