B.C. Lenehan served as a priest in a number of Roman Catholic churches in Iowa from 1867-1909. He was born in New York City and moved to Dubuque, Iowa with his family in 1853. He was ordained as a priest in 1867 and served in churches in McGregor, Sioux City, Denison, Boone, and Fort Dodge. He became vicar-general of the Sioux City diocese in 1902. In addition to this article on Father Mazzuchelli, he wrote an article on another Catholic leader in Iowa, "Rt. Rev. Mathias Loras, D.D., First Bishop of Dubuque", which appeared in the Annals of Iowa, Vol. 3 No. 8, Jan. 1899.
