Boice, Charles Allan

Charles Allan (Chuck) Boice was appointed editor of the Oregon Stater alumni magazine in 1969 and held the position until his retirement in 1986, at which time he became Editor Emeritus. During his retirement, he served as the Stater's Sports Editor from 1991 to 1997. He had previously been Director of Public Information for the University of Portland (1959-1965) and an Information Specialist with the Oregon State System of Higher Education Division of Continuing Education (1966-1969). Boice earned BS (1942) and MS (1950) degrees from the University of Oregon. Boice was born on July 27, 1920, in Glendale, Oregon, where he graduated from high school. He attended the College of Wooster in Ohio before returning to the University of Oregon. He served in the Navy during World War II as a naval gunnery officer in the South Pacific. Chuck married Audrey Larson in 1949 and they had two sons, Craig and Charles. After Audrey's death in 1994, Chuck married Ina Angeline Van de Pol in 1998. Chuck Boice died on March 14, 2010. Ina Boice passed away in April 2011.
