The South Atlantic Coast Section (SACS) of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) was organized on April 7, 1973, and included members from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Within the group's constitution, three primary objectives were mandated, which included advancing the teaching of physics, furthering the appreciation of physics in our culture, and enhancing effective communication among those concerned with the teaching of physics at all levels.
